METRO, the equality and diversity charity, stands in solidarity with those attacked in Orlando nightclub Pulse.

"We at METRO found this most recent demonstration of hate deeply distressing, as many other people have too. We are sure that many of the people we support, specifically those LGBT people, will have a range of reactions to the events in Orlando - as always we remain available to offer support.

"Sadly such hate continues to be a part of our world, which is why the work that we do in challenging hate, embracing and celebrating difference is still so vitally needed.", Dr Greg Ussher, METRO CEO.

Whilst celebrating our amazing volunteers, at our culmination event for Volunteers Week this evening, we will join the rest of London standing in solidarity for a minute of silent reflection at 7:00pm. Without our dedicated volunteers we would not be able to deliver such a broad range and depth of services that embrace difference and challenge hate.

We call on all our supporters to join us in this act of solidarity either at our event this evening or at other events specifically arranged across the country.
