Clarifying parameters for data protection

Recently published compilations help to understand and apply new rules

After a conference held in Manchester last week, the Fundraising Regulator, Information Commissioner's Office and the Charity Commission came up with guidelines to help charities understand more about compliance with current and incoming data protection legislation.

The guidance clarifies the recent changes — including monetary penalties and notices of intent — by ICO regarding donor consent, legitimate interest and data protection. Also accompanying the guidance is a consent self-assessment toolkit and an actions checklist.
