Nationally, we have seen a significant response to the call for NHS volunteers. Many people who are well and able, want to do what they can to support our communities.

We have collated the main points for community hubs, which are coordinating volunteering activities in response to the pandemic, for the areas we work in. Volunteers with a recent DBS check (basic, standard or enhanced) are particularly sought after. As vulnerable people continue to be asked to self-isolate there is especially a need to support people with:

  • Shopping for essential items
  • Picking up medicine from pharmacies
  • Dog walking

Volunteering should only be undertaken if safe to do so. If you are well and not showing any signs or symptoms of a cough, cold or flu (possible indicators of the coronavirus) and you feel that you would like to help, perhaps you will find a role to suit you that can assist and support people in your local community?
