Group of METRO staff with Mental Health balloon

METRO HIV peer support services have been successful in securing a small grant from Wandsworth Oasis to deliver an Introduction to Mindfulness & Meditation course for people living with HIV in the London area. The mindfulness and meditation sessions will start in January 2021.

Joel Robinson, METRO's Head of HIV, Mental Health & Wellbeing, said, "We are delighted that Wandsworth Oasis has provided METRO with a small grant to pilot a mindfulness course for people living with HIV. With the COVID-19 pandemic set to be with us throughout the winter and beyond, it's essential that we can support people living with HIV in reducing isolation and helping people with tools to manage their mental wellbeing.

"This timely grant will provide people living with HIV an opportunity to come together on Zoom and share experiences, feelings and thoughts with an experienced mindfulness teacher. Mindfulness can help us feel more present and relaxed, bringing in a new perspective so that we can make healthier choices."

With a chain of charity shops in south London, Wandsworth Oasis has been funding and supporting HIV charities for over 30 years, and have awarded over £1 million in grants in the last ten years alone. They currently urgently need donations. If you have any unwanted furniture items, then click here to find out more.Â
