LGBTQ+ COVID-19 Fund panels get to work

The LGBTQ+ COVID-19 Fund, funded by Comic Relief, has now received 140 applications from LGBTQ+ community-led organisations and groups. The funding will support their vital role in supporting LGBTQ+ communities through the coronavirus pandemic and beyond.

The fund, which is lead by METRO, operates in every nation of the UK, and its delivery is supported by delivery partners in each nation. Five regional panels will now begin the work of assessing and allocating the funds.

The five Panels are in the following areas:

• Funding panel for Scotland
• Funding panel for Northern Ireland
• Funding panel for Wales
• Funding panel for the North and Midlands of England
• Funding panel for the South of England

Niazy Hazeldine, METRO's LGBTQ+ Fund Manager, said, "We have been really excited to see the quality and breadth of projects and proposals from a wide range of organisations across the United Kingdom. The panels now have the difficult job of assessing applications to decide which ones we bring forward award funding to."
