We are thrilled to be hosting and collaborating on a number of events this year to recognise Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans+ History Month.

Our Interim CEO, Andrew Evans, said,

"Each year, LGBT+ History Month provides us with a fantastic opportunity to delve into not only our own story as an organisation, but the rich, diverse history of our community. This month helpsĀ to raise awareness, highlight significant landmark moments and individuals, and celebrate the strides forward made by our movement. We are excited for a jam-packed month full of opportunities and resources."

February schedule:

  • 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd The Queer Chakras: LGBT+ History Month Health and Wellbeing free course. Delivered via Zoom over four weeks, in partnership with NAZ and West London NHS Trust. Attendees must live or work in Hounslow.Ā Free to attend, booking requiredĀ 
  • 23rd 'Rebel Lewisham': an LGBTQ+ History Month exhibition launch.Ā Exhibition highlightingĀ key moments of our own and the wider LGBT+ communities history, with a focus on Lewisham and LGBTQ+ activism within the borough. Atrium, METRO New Cross at the Mulberry Centre, 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Free entry, booking required
  • 17th 'LGBTQ History of Art and Activism' ā€“ a free LGBTQ+ youth event for ages 13-25 in Bromley led by queer local artists. Crafting workshop exploring the history and importance of queer signifiers like badges and patches, followed by a film screening of Pride.   • 19th National Maritime Museum: 'Out At Sea' workshops and performance,Ā featuring input from METRO youth. Pennants created by METRO Mental Health will also feature in an exhibition.Ā Free to attend,Ā booking required
  • 24th Supporting Trans People of Colour:Ā BookĀ reading and Q&A with author Sabah Choudrey. Delivered via Zoom in partnership with NAZ. Free to attend, booking required
  • 25thĀ 'Watch Out There's a Queer About!' screening. Delivered in partnership with Staying Out as part of Lewisham's Borough of Culture celebrations, Atrium, METRO New Cross at the Mulberry Centre, 7:00pm. Free to attend, booking requiredĀ 
  • 28th Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity training:Ā For organisations working with young people in Croydon and Southwark. Attendees must meet the set criteria. Delivered via Zoom, 5:30pm - 8:30pm. Free to attend, booking required
  • 1st - 28th Woolwich and itā€™s LGBTQ+ story:Ā Archival display highlighting key moments within Woolwich's LGBTQ+ history, including extracts from our National Lottery Heritage Fund project, Our history. Inside the Main Library at the Woolwich Centre. Free to attend, no booking required
